Oklahoma scene: Arkansas Tech player hospitalized after collapsing in game against SNU

A scary scene unfolded Saturday at the Sawyer Center in Bethany during the Southern Nazarene men's basketball game against Arkansas Tech.

With 9:41 left in the first half, Arkansas Tech's Jeff Reese came off the floor complaining of shortness of breath. Reese collapsed, and the teams' training staffs administered CPR and used a defibrillator before Reese regained consciousness. He was transported to a hospital, and coaches said he was stable and being kept overnight for observation.

The game resumed after a 45-minute delay. Arkansas Tech players received a standing ovation from fans and hugs from SNU players when they returned to the floor.

Southern Nazarene went on to win 61-54, with Ryan Aaron scoring a team-high 19 points.

NORMAN NORTH, EDMOND NORTH TEAMS WIN CONFERENCE TITLES

Both Norman North boys and girls swim teams captured the Mid-State Conference championship Saturday at Oklahoma City Community College, while Edmond North's boys and girls' squads won the Metro Conference titles.

Justin Wu and Tomas Elder led the Timberwolves boys' squad with four conference titles each. Wu set a conference record in winning the 200-meter freestyle in a time of 1:39.40. He also finished first in the 100-meter backstroke.

Elder was the champion in the 50 and 100 freestyle. Both Wu and Elder were members of Norman North's championship relay teams in the 200 medley and 200 freestyle.

UCO'S BASKS, ROWELL EXTEND WINNING STREAKS

Jordan Basks and Casy Rowell helped the Central Oklahoma wrestling team to a pair of victories Saturday at Hamilton Field House in Edmond.
