Oklahoma scene: City council to honor pro hockey player Matt Donovan

The New York Islanders prospect is the first NHL player born, raised and trained in Oklahoma.

*Josh Fosdick trimmed Tucker Roderick by one stroke Monday to win the South Central PGA Assistant Championships at the Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club. Both players are assistant pros at Oak Tree National in Edmond.

Fosdick, a former head coach at Edmond Memorial High School, finished the 36-hole tournament with a 4-under-par 138. Roderick, an All-Stater at Stillwater who played collegiately at NAIA power Oklahoma City, had a 3-under 139.

*Former Carl Albert High School coach Lloyd Cummings was hired as an assistant baseball coach at Mid-America Christian University in Oklahoma City. Cummings also served 15 seasons as head baseball coach at Rose State; his new boss, head coach Mike Brown, was a Cummings assistant at Rose State.

*Nick Dials, who scored more than 1,000 points at the University of Akron, was named assistant men's basketball coach at Rogers State in Claremore. Dials replaces Kyle Blankenship, who was recently named head coach at LSU-Shreveport.
