Oklahoma scene: Court in Salina, Kan., to be named after Kurt Budke

Former Oklahoma State women's basketball coach was a Salina native. He graduated from Salina Sacred Heart High School.

A potentially good college baseball matchup scheduled for Wednesday between Central Oklahoma and Oklahoma City has been canceled due to predicted bad weather. Central Oklahoma (3-0) was hosting the NAIA's No. 1-ranked team in OCU (4-0) in a single nine-inning game. The game was supposed to be the home opener for UCO. No makeup date has been announced.


Former Oklahoma City University track and field coach Jack Daniels will host a cross country/track clinic at 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, at the Devon Boathouse. Daniels coached at OCU from 1961-65. He has since coached five Olympians, 30 individual national champions and 130 All-Americans during a 35-year career. He was named the World's Best Coach by Runner's World Magazine.

The clinic will include a session from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with an emphasis on high school coaches and athletes. A 1 to 3 p.m. clinic will be geared toward marathon runners. For registration information, call (405) 208-5319 or email OCU coach Conor Holt at

Oklahoma gymnast Megan Ferguson was named Big 12 Event Specialist of the Week. The native Kansan won five of six events during the Sooners' two competitions last week. She had five scores of 9.9 or higher. The senior tied a career-high on the floor (9.95), won the bars (9.9) and the beam (9.925) to help OU upset No. 2-ranked Arkansas in Fayetteville.
