Oklahoma was tied for second place Sunday after the first round of the Golfweek Conference Challenge in Burlington, Iowa.
The Sooners were tied with New Mexico; the teams were one stroke behind leader Houston.
Michael Schoolcraft and Charlie Saxon each shot even-par 72s for the Sooners. They are tied for 11th place in the individual standings. Tyler Merkel of Ball State is the leader, three strokes ahead of Schoolcraft and Saxon.
COWBOYS FINISH THIRD
The Oklahoma State men's golf team finished third Sunday at the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational.
The Cowboys had a 54-hole total of 869, which was 29-over par. They finished 20 strokes behind team champion Alabama.
Ian Davis, Talor Gooch and Kevin Dougherty tied for 12th place for the Cowboys. They finished eight strokes behind co-champions Robby Shelton of Alabama and Cameron Wilson of Stanford.
