Dustin Morgan took the lead on lap nine and cruised to an American Sprint Car Series Sooner Region victory late Saturday night at Lawton Speedway. The region’s points leader notched his first 25-lap A feature win of the season, and then did several victory spins in the infield in front of an estimated 2,000 fans. Morgan, an Owasso resident, had a large lead over runner-up Kevin Ramey of Fort Worth at the checkers.

Alex Sewell of Broken Arrow, Joe Wood Jr. of Oklahoma City and Sean McClelland of Claremore rounded out the top-five finishers.

DeCAMP WINS IN SALINA

Coweta driver Alex DeCamp made the most of a questionable decision by winning an Oil Capital Racing Series sprint car race late Saturday night at Salina Highbanks Speedway.

DeCamp was uncertain if he would race Saturday night. After struggling Friday night in a race in Humboldt, Kan., DeCamp and crew had to make several repairs to the car. And they had to borrow a top wing to boot.

Quick, hard work paid off — even if it came late in the evening. DeCamp passed Johnny Kent of Tulsa on the last lap to become the OCRS’ first three-time winner of the season.

Blake Edwards of Claremore, Whit Gastineau of Moore and Glen Passmore of Afton rounded out the top-five finishers. Points leader Danny Smith of Tulsa finished seventh.

BOUNTY HUNTERS ROLL

Damien Dunning accounted for six touchdowns late Saturday night as the Oklahoma City Bounty Hunters’ semi-pro football team routed the Oklahoma Nightmare 68-0 at Putnam City Stadium. Dunning, a former University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff quarterback, passed for four touchdowns and ran for two. Running back Reggie Arnold, an Arkansas State alum, added 14- and 2-yard TD carries.

The Bounty Hunters improved to 8-1. They will wrap up the Gridiron Developmental Football League schedule at 6 p.m. Saturday against the Dallas Anarchy at Putnam City Stadium.
