Emily Goldstein scored three goals to lead Iowa State to a 4-1 Big 12 soccer win over Oklahoma on Sunday in Norman.
Iowa State (7-7-2 overall, 1-3-1 Big 12) fired 20 shots, including 10 on goal, to keep the Sooners' defense busy. Koree Willer gave the Cyclones a 1-0 lead in the 24th minute. Goldstein scored her first goal of the game in the 56th minute, then added others in the 71st and 79th minutes. The latter two came on breakaway runs.
OU (3-10-1, 0-4-0) picked up its only goal from Abby Hodgen in the 66th minute.
The Sooners next play 7 p.m. Friday against TCU in Fort Worth.
WANG, HOFFMAN LEAD JUNIOR ALL-STAR
Robin Wang of Lake Mary, Fla., continued to lead the boys division Sunday at the Junior All-Star Invitational on the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Course in Norman.
Wang shot a 67 for the second consecutive day. He has 14 birdies through two days of the tournament. Wang leads Wilson Furr of Jackson, Miss., by two shots.
Emilee Hoffman of Folsom, Calif., took sole possession of first place in the girls division. She shot even par on Sunday. She leads Muni He of Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., by four strokes. In a three-way tie for third place are Yujeong Son of Norman, Gabriela Coello of Winter Garden, Fla., and Allyson Geer of Brighton, Mich. They are five shots behind Hoffman.
OU FINISHES THIRD
Oklahoma shot a final-round 1-over-par 289 on Sunday and finished third at the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C. The women's tournament had 18 teams, including 16 in the top 50 of the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings.
The Sooners finished the 54-hole tournament with a 7-over 871 team total. OU was 14 shots behind team champion Duke and three strokes shy of runner-up Vanderbilt.
Freshman Alexandra Kaui was the top Oklahoma finisher. She tied for 19th place among 96 players. Kaui had a 2-over 218 for the tournament.
