Northeastern A&M accepted an invitation to play in the fourth annual Citizens Bank Bowl in Pittsburg, Kan. The No. 9-ranked Golden Norse (9-2) will face No. 15 College of DuPage (8-2) at 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, at Carnie Smith Stadium. The stadium is home to the NCAA Division II football powerhouse Pittsburg State Gorillas.
NEO comes off a loss to Navarro (Texas) in the Southwest Junior College Football Conference championship game. The Golden Norse roster is stocked with Oklahoma players, some likely headed to Division I and II schools. Several players who have gone on to bigger things have played in the Citizens Bank Bowl, including Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton, Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Lavonte David and current LSU quarterback Zach Mettenberger.
The bowl game will almost be a home game for NEO. Miami, OK, is only 43 miles from Pittsburg, Kan.

STARS SOFTBALL NO. 4
Oklahoma City University will begin the softball season ranked No. 4 in the NAIA. Coaches released the preseason poll Wednesday; OCU made its 82nd consecutive Top 25 appearance, which is the NAIA's longest active streak. The Stars finished 47-20 last season. The OCU softball program has made the national finals 13 times.
