Oklahoma City University will celebrate its 10th year as a varstiy rowing program with an Opening Day Dinner on March 14 at the Beacon Club. Past OCU rowers and parents of current team members are encouraged to attend the 6:30 p.m. event.
OCU opens is spring season on March 15 with the Opening Day Regatta on the Oklahoma River.
Single tickets for the dinner are $75; two tickets cost $125; and a student ticket is $60. The Beacon Club is located on the 24th floor of 210 Park Avenue.

SOONERS BEAT ABILENE CHRISTIAN
Five Oklahoma pitchers had solid performances on Wednesday, and the Sooners beat Abilene Christian 4-1 in baseball at Mitchell Park in Norman.
Octavio Rodriguez, Robert Tasin, Kindle Ladd, Kyle Hayes and Ralph Garza Jr. combined for eight strikeouts and just two walks. Abilene Christian (6-3) had six hits, but it didn’t score until the eighth inning to cut the Sooners’ lead to 2-1. But OU (8-4) countered with two runs in the bottom of the inning to give Garza some cushion for his second save of the season.
Hunter Haley and Taylor Alspaugh homered for the Sooners. Craig Aikin added three hits.
Due to a forecast of rain on Saturday, the softball schedule for the OU-hosted Courtyard Marriott Tournament has changed.
Defending national champion Oklahoma (14-6) will play Liberty (2-15) at 3:30 p.m. Friday and Western Illinois (10-3) at 5:45. On Saturday, the Sooners will play Tulsa (16-2) at 1:30 p.m. Sunday’s game, scheduled for a 12:30 p.m. start, against Western Illinois remains the same.
TU will play Liberty at 11 a.m. Friday and Western Illinois at 1:15 p.m. Tulsa will play Liberty again at 10 a.m. Sunday.
SAC BASKETBALL UNDERWAY
•Adrianna White scored a game-high 34 points, and Vanessa Bledsoe added 10 rebounds as Southwestern Christian beat the University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma 98-90 on Wednesday in a Sooner Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Tournament play-in game.
Paige Pulliam had 33 points for USAO, which finished its season 5-19.
Southwestern Christian (11-18) will play top-seeded Oklahoma City (21-3) at 2:15 p.m. Thursday at Noble Complex on the Oklahoma Baptist University campus in Shawnee.
•On the men’s side, Tyler Reynolds had game-highs of 24 points and 11 rebounds as USAO beat Southwestern Christian 76-66. Reynolds added eight assists, also a game high, as the Drovers (14-14) advanced to play St. Gregory’s (21-8) at 8 p.m. Thursday at the Noble Complex.
•Tyler Davis had a game-best 35 points, and Kendall Parks had 19 assists as Oklahoma Baptist whipped Texas Wesleyan 103-76 in a first-round SAC men’s game. OBU (16-15) will play top-seeded Southwestern Assemblies of God (26-4) at 6:15 p.m. Thursday at the Noble Complex.
•Samantha Harrison of Oklahoma State was selected as Big 12 Equitation on the Flat Rider of the Month for February. The senior was undefeated in three matches, including an impressive 90 score against Auburn.
•The Central Oklahoma wrestling team fell from fourth to No. 13 in the NCAA Division II rankings. The Bronchos, who finished sixth in the Central Super Regional in Edmond, qualified wrestlers for the Division II Championships on March 14-15 in Cleveland, Ohio.
