Oklahoma scene: OKC's Amanda Stevens competes in Ironman European Championship

Oklahoma City native Amanda Stevens will be one of 2,500 athletes competing in this year's Ironman European Championship on Sunday in Germany.

Stevens is the 2010 Ironman 70.3 Pro Champion. She attended Enid High School and OU medical school.

The race involves a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike ride and ends with a 26.2-mile run. Elite female athletes routinely finish the race in 10 to 12 hours.

OKC'S CARSON JONES FIGHTS IN WELTERWEIGHT ELIMINATOR

Oklahoma City's Carson Jones will fight Kell Brook Saturday night in Sheffield, England, in an IBF welterweight eliminator bout.

The bout acts as an elimination fight, as Brook and Jones hope to become the mandatory challenger for IBF titleholder Randall Bailey. The winner will face No. 4-ranked Hector Saldivia for the right to fight Bailey.

IBF ranks Jones No. 3 in the world and Brook No. 5.
