Oklahoma scene: Oklahoma goes 2-1 at Northeastern Duals

Sooners beat No. 9 Central Michigan and Hofstra, but fall to No. 8 Cornell.

The Oklahoma wrestling squad finished 2-1 at the 10th annual Journeymen/ASICS Northeastern Wrestling Duals on Saturday, beating Hofstra and No. 9 Central Michigan.

The 11th-ranked Sooners, though, dropped a decision to No. 8 Cornell, 25-23. They beat Hofstra 36-9 and Central Michigan 24-14.

The loss was the Sooners' first in dual competition this year.

Kendric Maple and Nick Lester each finished the duals with a 3-0 record.

Oklahoma returns home next Sunday against Binghamton at 5 p.m.

OCU DEMOLISHES CENTRAL CHRISTIAN

It was a record-setting day for the Oklahoma City University women's basketball team.

The 10th-ranked Stars crushed Central Christian (Kan.) 133-24 in the Oklahoma Baptist Holiday Classic at the Noble Complex in Shawnee, setting three records.

OCU broke school records for fewest points allowed in a half (6), 3-point field goal attempts (40) and made 3-pointers (18).

The Stars (5-2) opened the game with a 33-1 run and led 73-6 at halftime.

Senior Lauren Gober scored 34 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.

OCU hosts College of the Ozarks (Mo.) on Dec. 21 at 6 p.m.
