The U.S. World Team Trials will determine the athletes who will compete at the 2013 World Wrestling Championship in Budapest, Hungary, on Sept. 16-22, as well as the U.S. national teams for the 2013-14 campaign in men's freestyle, Greco-Roman and women's freestyle.  

OU's Legesse breaks program record

Oklahoma senior Frezer Legesse broke the program record in the men's 1,000-meter run at the Nittany Lion Challenge in University Park, Pa.

The former Oklahoma Christian School standout finished third in 2:22.76, breaking the mark of 2:23.3 set by Tim Renihan in 1986.

OU women win at Arizona State

The No. 4 Oklahoma women's gymnastics squad swept Arizona State in every event on its way to a 196.700-193.625 win in Tempe, Ariz.

Sophomore Erica Brewer took the all-around title with a score of 39.350. The Sooners also claimed all four individual event titles, including Madison Mooring on vault, Brewer and Brie Olson on bars, Olson on beam and Taylor Spears on floor.

The Sooners open their home schedule at 7 p.m. Friday against Denver.
