Oklahoma scene: Oklahoma State's Brittney Martin honored by Big 12

The honor marks the sixth time Martin has received a weekly award from the league office.

Oklahoma State sophomore Brittney Martin was named Big 12 Women's Basketball Player of the Week.

Martin averaged 23.5 points and 11.0 rebounds while shooting 71 percent from the floor. Those numbers helped the Cowgirls beat UMass Lowell and North Texas.

The honor marks the sixth time Martin has received a weekly award from the league office after earning freshman of the week plaudits five times last season.

McLAURIN ON ALL-BIG 12 TEAM

Sallie McLaurin of Oklahoma was chosen to the All-Big 12 Volleyball First Team. The senior middle blocker from Midwest City is a three-time selection to the first team.

She was chosen as the league's Offensive Player of the Week five times this season.

McLaurin leads the Sooners with 3.76 kills per set, ranking third in the Big 12, and a league-best .423 hitting percentage. Defensively, she leads the league at 1.34 blocks per set.

RUTT CHOSEN TOP WRESTLER

Travis Rutt of Oklahoma was selected as Big 12 Wrestler of the Month for November. Rutt, a senior who is ranked No. 5 at 197 pounds, is off to an 8-0 start. He was 5-0 in dual competition and won an individual championship last month at the Brockport/Oklahoma Invitational.
