Senior utility player Gabe Weidenaar has been dismissed from the OSU baseball program after he was arrested last Thursday, the Tulsa World reported.
During a preliminary hearing Monday, Weidenaar was charged with three felonies and one misdemeanor and is being held in Payne County Jail on $200,000, according to the Tulsa World.
Weidenaar entered a plea of not guilty.
Weeden named to honor society
Former Oklahoma State quarterback Brandon Weeden was named a member of the 2012 National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society on Wednesday.
The honor went to 721 players from NCAA FBS, FCS, Division II, Division III or NAIA schools who were a starter or significant substitute on their team, maintained at least a 3.2 cumulative grade-point average for their entire undergraduate career and met all NCAA-mandated progress toward degree requirements and graduation.
Weeden graduated from OSU last May with a degree in business management. He finished his Cowboy career going 23-3 as a starter while breaking nearly every school passing record. He was selected by the Cleveland Browns with the No. 22 overall pick of the NFL Draft last Thursday.
Other notable members of the 2012 NFF Hampshire Honor Society class include Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III, Ryan Tannehill, Kirk Cousins, Fozzy Whitaker, Emmanuel Acho and Russell Wilson.
OSU ahead of ticket sales pace
Oklahoma State has sold 30,649 football season tickets as of Wednesday afternoon, the university announced. That is 3,695 tickets ahead of last year's record pace, a season in which OSU set a school record with 48,714 total season tickets sold.
Monday was the renewal deadline for 2011 season ticket holders.
The Cowboys are coming off their best season in school history, going 12-1 in 2011 and winning their first Big 12 title and the Fiesta Bowl.
UCO No. 2 in softball poll
Central Oklahoma moved up one spot to No. 2 in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division II poll. The Bronchos (39-5) host the four-team South Central Regional II Tournament this weekend at Edmond North High School. UCO will play Incarnate Word at 7 p.m. Friday.
Marie-Pier Huet and Whitney Ritchie of the Oklahoma women's tennis were selected as one of 32 doubles pairs to compete in the NCAA Championships, set for May 23-28 in Athens, Ga. ... OU redshirt junior Tia Brooks has been named the Big 12 Conference female track and field athlete of the week. Brooks won the shot put at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa. ... OU's Rebecca Staff was named Co-Big 12 rower of the year, and the Sooners' Kellie O'Reilly was named the Big 12 rowing newcomer of the year. OU coach Leeanne Crain was selected as co-Big 12 rowing coach of the year.
