OU CONTINUES TO LEAD
The Oklahoma women's golf team extended its lead at the Alamo Invitational on the Briggs Rance Course in San Antonio. OU had a 13-under-par 563 team score and topped second-place Texas A&M by eight strokes. The Sooners' 13-under total for 36 holes set a school record, besting the previous record of 11 under set during the 2011 UNLV Spring Invitational.
OU senior Taylor Schmidt had a 5-under 139 for two rounds at the Alamo Invite. She is tied for second place, two strokes behind leader Sarah Beth Davis of Texas A&M.
The final round is scheduled to start at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
ORU GETS BASKETBALL COMMIT
The Oral Roberts University basketball program got a commitment Monday from Dederick Lee, a combo guard from Clarksville, Ark., who once was committed to Arkansas. Lee, 6-foot-2, 170 pounds, led Clarksville to Class 4A state championships the last two seasons. He averaged 28.5 points as a sophomore and was the state tournament MVP, according to coach Tony Davis, who said Lee averaged between 22 and 23 points last season.
