The Oklahoma women's golf team set a single-round school record Sunday during the first round of the Alamo Invitational in San Antonio. The Sooners finished with a 9-under-par 279 to lead the team standing; OU was seven strokes ahead of SMU and eight in front of Tulane at Briggs Ranch Golf Course. The three-round tournament continues Monday.
The previous single-round record was 8-under, established 11 days earlier when Oklahoma competed in the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic in Norman. The Sooners ended up winning that tournament.
Hayley Davis of Baylor and Jennifer Park of SMU were tied for first place in the individual race. But they were only one shot ahead of the Sooners' Taylor Schmidt and Kaitlyn Rohrback. Both finished with a 4-under 68. Schmidt and Rohrback combined for 10 birdies.
