Oklahoma scene: OU's Shelby Pendley picks up first collegiate pitching victory

The Sooners’ slugger has a good day at the plate, but she strikes out two to help preserve a 3-2 win over LSU.

Shelby Pendley had an all-around game during Oklahoma’s 3-2 softball victory Sunday over LSU at Marita Hynes Field in Norman.

Pendley was 2 for 2 at the plate and scored a run during the Sooners’ 3-run third inning. She also pitched 22/3 innings in relief. Pendley blanked the Tigers (19-12) on one hit, no walks and two strikeouts while picking up her first collegiate win.

Pendley took over for starting pitcher Kelsey Stevens with the bases loaded and one out. Pendley struck out the next two hitters to preserve the Sooners’ one-run lead.

OU (21-8) will play 6 p.m. Wednesday against North Texas in Norman.

•Oklahoma State’s scheduled softball game Sunday against North Dakota State in the Mizzou Classic was canceled. OSU (18-11) next plays 5 p.m. Wednesday against Central Arkansas at Cowgirls Stadium in Stillwater.
