Oklahoma's men's basketball team signed junior college power forward Edson Avila on Wednesday.

The 6-foot-10 Avila averaged 11.4 points and 5.8 rebounds for Seward County (Kan.) last season, helping the Saints win the Jayhawk Conference West Division.

He shot 58 percent from the field.

Avila, from the Bronx, N.Y., picked the Sooners over Oklahoma State, Memphis and Gonzaga.

BEDLAM SOFTBALL POSTPONED

The Bedlam softball game, scheduled for Wednesday evening in Oklahoma City, has been postponed due to the threat of severe weather.

The game, between No. 1 Oklahoma and Oklahoma State, will now be played May 10 at 6 p.m. at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium.

Tickets can be purchased at www.softballoutlet.com/shop_tickets. Tickets purchased for Wednesday's game will be honored at the May 10 game. Those who are unable to attend the May 10 game, but have already purchased tickets, can receive a full refund by contacting the ticket office at (405) 425-3427.
