Oklahoma scene: Schedule for Big 12 wrestling set

Oklahoma and Oklahoma State will wrestle at 7 p.m. Friday in Gallagher-Iba Arena.

Oklahoma State will face West Virginia, and Oklahoma will take on Iowa State will kick off the Big 12 Wrestling Championships on Friday at Gallagher-Iba Arena. Both duals will begin at 11 a.m. on adjacent mats. After the completion of those matches, the Cowboys and Sooners will switch opponents and wrestle again.

The 7 p.m. evening session will feature OSU and OU on one mat and West Virginia taking on Iowa State on the other.

Wrestling will continue at 5 p.m. Saturday with semifinals; championship matches are scheduled to start around 7.

SOONERS TIED FOR FIRST

Oklahoma and Alabama were tied for first place after two rounds of the Puerto Rico Classic on Monday at the Rio Mar-River Course in Rio Grande. The Sooners and Crimson Tide were 19-under par, eight shots ahead of SMU. Eduardo Castiello of OU was tied for first place with Mikey Moyers of Virginia Tech in the medalist race. Both were 7-under 137 for two rounds. The final round will begin at 5:30 a.m. (Oklahoma time) Tuesday.

OSU SERIES CHANGES

Oklahoma State will open the home portion of its baseball season at 3 p.m. Tuesday against Alcorn State (Miss.) at Reynolds Stadium. The Cowboys and Braves will play a second game shortly after the completion of the first; Wednesday's game has been canceled due to a weather forecast that includes snow. Fans can attend Tuesday's game free of admission charge.

HONOR ROLL

*Oklahoma State freshman Marcus Smart was named Big 12 Rookie of the Week — the fourth time this basketball season — after averaging 19.0 points and totaling 10 rebounds, seven assists, three steals and two blocks.
