Matt Oberste provided much of the Sooners' offense, slugging a three-run homer in the fourth inning. Anthony Hermelyn added an RBI hit in the sixth inning.

OU (12-3) is scheduled to play Notre Dame at noon Saturday in Los Angeles.

Loyola-Marymount charged to a four-run lead after two innings Saturday, and then held on for a 5-2 baseball victory over Oklahoma State at Reynolds Stadium in Stillwater. Zac Fujimoto and Tommy Cheek each had three hits for Loyola-Marymount (6-9). The Cowboys (11-3) scored twice in the bottom of the seventh inning, getting solo home runs from Tanner Krietemeier and Zach Fish.

The series ends with a noon game Sunday.

Cory Dauphin of Central Oklahoma used a first-period takedown as momentum, and the 157-pounder won an NCAA Division II wrestling championship Saturday in Birmingham, Ala. Dauphin beat Zach Vargo of Lake Erie, which helped the Bronchos finish fourth in the team standings. It was UCO's best national tournament finish since winning it in 2007.

Dauphin, an El Reno product, is the Bronchos' first individual champion since 2008.

“My teammates and coaches pushed me all year, and it feels great that all the hard work paid off,” Dauphin said. “It's an unbelievable feeling to be called a national champion.”

UCO had five other All-Americans: Chris Watson (165 pounds, fourth place), Casy Rowell (133, fifth), Jordan Basks (149, fifth), Cody Dauphin (heavyweight, sixth) and Kelly Henderson (174, seventh).

Nebraska-Kearney won a second consecutive national team championship. No. 1-ranked St. Cloud State (Minn.) finished second, and Notre Dame of Ohio was third.
