Oklahoma scene: St. Gregory's to host NAIA Men's Basketball Game of the Week

The Cavaliers will host Mid-America Christian at 5 p.m. Saturday. Both teams are in the Sooner Athletic Conference championship chase.

A men's basketball tilt Saturday between No. 17-ranked Mid-America Christian and No. 23 St. Gregory's in Shawnee has been chosen by the NAIA as its National Game of the Week.

Mid-America Christian is 14-8 overall and 10-6 in Sooner Athletic Conference. The Evangels lead St. Gregory's (18-7, 9-7) by one game in the league race, which includes a win over the Cavaliers earlier this season in Oklahoma City.

Game time is 5 p.m. at W.P. Wood Field House.


The Oklahoma City RedHawks baseball team has closed its online registration for the 2014 national anthem tryouts. The Triple-A franchise said all 200 time slots have been filled. The tryouts are scheduled 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. March 8 at Penn Square Mall. Standby auditions will be available on tryout day. Standby performers will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis.
