Oklahoma scene: Tulsa quarterback Kalen Henderson will transfer

Henderson was one of three scholarship QBs on the Golden Hurricane post-spring depth chart.

University of Tulsa quarterback Kalen Henderson has decided to transfer. The junior has not announced where he will play in the future.

Henderson played in 11 games over two seasons for the Golden Hurricane, throwing for 416 yards and four interceptions. The Mount Airy, La., product was one of three scholarship quarterbacks on Tulsa's post-spring depth chart.


Oklahoma Baptist University director of athletics Robert Davenport is Sooner Athletic Conference Athletic Director of the Year.

Davenport is eligible for consideration for the NAIA award.

In addition to facility improvements and fundraising, Davenport has overseen the addition of lacrosse and football, a 3.08 grade-point average for varsity athletes, four NAIA championships in one day and the university's first Learfield Sports Directors' Cup title.


Central Oklahoma's national championship softball team added another honor Wednesday when head coach Genny Stidham and assistant Cody White were named the National Fastpitch Coaches Association's Division II National Coaching Staff of the Year.

The Bronchos captured the school's first women's national title in any sport on May 27 with a 5-2 finals triumph over Kutztown to cap a perfect 9-0 run through the national tournament, outscoring those nine opponents 61-16.

UCO won the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association crown in its first year in the league at 23-3 and finished with a school-record 51 wins, ending the season 51-11.
