The U.S. Men's Sitting Volleyball Team won the gold medal over the weekend at the Central American Games in San Jose, Costa Rica. The U.S. team, which trains at the University of Central Oklahoma, beat Colombia 25-14, 27-25, 25-12. The Americans were 5-0 at the tournament and did not lose a single set. Dan Regan, an Edmond resident, led the U.S. in scoring in the gold medal match. He had 10 points on six kills, three blocks and one ace.
TEXAS A&M GUARD TRANSFERS TO OU
Texas A&M guard Peyton Little will transfer to OU for the fall 2013 semester, Sooners women's basketball coach Sherri Coale announced Monday.
Little averaged 15 minutes in 35 games last season as a true freshman for the Aggies, averaging 4.5 points and 1.2 rebounds. The 5-foot-11 guard will sit out the 2013-14 season, per NCAA rules, and have three remaining years of eligibility after that.
Little was a top-25 prospect nationally in the recruiting class of 2012. Her uncle, David, played college hoops at OU from 1979-83.
COWBOYS TRAIL TEXAS
Oklahoma State had a two-round total of 577 on Monday and stood in second place at the Big 12 Men's Golf Championships in Hutchinson, Kan. The Cowboys trailed Texas by six strokes. OSU, Texas and TCU were the only teams to finish play Monday due to darkness. The remainder of the second round will be played at 11 a.m. Tuesday; the third round is set to start at 1 p.m.
Texas' Brandon Stone led all individuals with a 3-under-par 137. Talor Gooch of Oklahoma State was second with a 139.
OU, RAZORBACKS CALLED OFF
Oklahoma's baseball game at Arkansas on Tuesday has been canceled. Thunderstorms are predicted for Fayetteville on Tuesday afternoon; the game was scheduled for a 6:30 p.m. start. No makeup date is scheduled.
OKLAHOMA PRO ANGLER ON HOT STREAK
Oklahoma pro angler Jason Christie captured his second straight tournament Monday by winning the Bassmaster Elite Series event on Bull Shoals Lake, Ark.
Christie of Park Hill won $100,000 and qualified for the 2014 Bassmaster Classic with the victory. His winning total weight was 56 pounds, 8 ounces in the four-day Ramada Quest tournament.
Christie caught 18 pounds on Monday to jump from 11th to first on the final day of the tournament. Fred Roumbanis of Bixby was second with 55 pounds, 6 ounces.
Christie won an FLW Tour event April 14 on Arkansas' Beaver Lake.
REA HONORED BY BIG 12
Oklahoma State third baseman Robbie Rea was named Big 12 Baseball Player of the Week. Rea helped the Cowboys win three of four games with three home runs, a double and four RBIs. He scored four runs, stole a base and did not commit an error.
