Sooners announce soccer schedule
The
Oklahoma Sooners will open their 2008 soccer season at
Colorado College on Friday, Aug. 22, the first game of a 19-match schedule, first-year coach
Nicole Nelson announced Thursday.
The Sooners will host
Stephen F. Austin on Aug. 15 in the only exhibition game on the schedule.
OU will play 10 home games at the
John Crain Field at the OU Soccer Complex.
The Bedlam matchup against
Oklahoma State is set for Oct. 31 in
Norman. OU has lost to the Cowgirls in the last three Bedlam games.
OU's
Big 12 schedule begins Friday, Sept. 26, at
Colorado. The Sooners' first Big 12 home match is set for Friday, Oct. 10, against
Missouri. They will host
Kansas two days later.
The Big 12 tournament will be Nov. 5-9 in
San Antonio, Texas.
OU finished 6-10-3 overall last season and ninth in the Big 12 with a 2-7-7 record.
•Cowgirl golfers honored: Three members of the OSU women's golf team were named to the
National Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar Team.
Pernilla Lindberg,
Amanda Johnson and
Karin Kinnerud, all seniors-to-be, were chosen for the team, which is made up of student-athletes with a minimum grade-point average of 3.50.
