OC names Janz athletic director
Oklahoma Christian University named Curtis Janz athletic director on Tuesday. Janz is in his 20th season as an OC assistant basketball coach.
"We have great confidence in Curtis, as he has proven his strengths during his many years at
Oklahoma Christian,” said OC president
Mike O’Neal. "Curtis has a great understanding of our mission and the role athletics plays in it. We also believe Curtis is a man of great vision who will push our athletic department to great results.”
Janz, also the chair of OC’s physical education department, will remain on the basketball staff through the season.
Chuck White, who served as interim AD, remains director of athletic operations and head baseball coach.
OSU baseball team No. 16 in poll
The
Oklahoma State baseball team was ranked No. 16 in the
National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association 2009 preseason poll.
OSU is coming off a 44-18 season and an
NCAA Tournament berth for the fourth time in five seasons under coach
Frank Anderson. The Cowboys finished second in the
Big 12 with an 18-9 regular-season mark and earned a No. 1 NCAA Regional seed for the second time in three seasons.
The Cowboys return four starters from a year ago, including sophomore infielder
Tom Belza, who led the Big 12 as a true freshman with a .386 batting average, and junior outfielder
Neil Medchill, who earned first-team All-Big 12 honors in his first season in
Stillwater by hitting .349 with 11 home runs and 41 RBIs.
Trout clinic on Thursday
A free trout fishing clinic is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday at the Putnam City High School Gymnasium, 5300 NW 50. State wildlife officials and Oklahoma City Park and Recreation personnel will be provide trout fishing tips. Registration is required; call 755-4014.
