The Oklahoma Commission on School Security finalized the recommendations Tuesday. The recommendations include creating an Oklahoma School Security Institute that would coordinate and standardize school security procedures statewide. Lt. Gov. Todd Lamb chairs the 22-member Commission on School Security. He says it would cost about $500,000 to create the institute.

Other recommendations include establishing a mental health first-aid pilot training program, mandatory safety drills at public schools and a school security tip line.

The task force was formed after a deadly shooting rampage at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., killed 20 children and six school employees.
