Oklahoma Senior Follies: If you audition
If you audition:
Tips from the Follies director

Oklahoma Senior Follies Director David Herendeen gives advice for auditioning:
“We're looking for variety and, of course, wonderful singers and dance groups,” Herendeen said. He hopes some really unusual acts will come out for auditions, such as magicians, ventriloquists, unusual instrumental combos, comedians and any other acts that are out of the ordinary.
“A follies is really a variety show,” Herendeen said.
As usual, the show will feature a group of “Beauties” with fabulous costumes designed by Ashley Bellet, Oklahoma City University resident costume designer and assistant professor.
The Follies' theme this year, Herendeen said, is “Elements and Style.” The four elements of fire, water, earth and air will be present in the medleys Herendeen writes that anchor the show.
“It doesn't mean people have to bring something that has those elements in it,” Herendeen said.
“Prepare something that you're already good at,” he advises. “Your favorite song, your best dance… Put your best foot forward. I'll take your talents and fit it into the show if I can.”
If your audition requires accompaniment, bring sheet music or a CD. Herendeen said he also can accommodate iPhones, iPads or iPods for backup music.
