and Canada. I’m really looking forward to spending time with my family and friends this holiday season.”

Oklahoma’s first lady Kim Henry

“As first lady, I’m thankful for the platform to address issues I care about: education and health. It’s an incredible honor and wonderful opportunity. If I start to take anything for granted, the Lord reminds me – maybe through a sweet e-mail from Brad – to pay attention to the important things in life, and that’s family. I’m thankful for my daughters, who are happy, healthy, good kids, and for a wonderful husband who loves me.”

The band Flaming Lips:

From lead singer Wayne Coyne: “Let it be said that I believe we live in an endlessly fascinating world and that simply being alive and healthy are already great mysterious gifts. But I recently injured some nerves in my neck. There are rumors that I was in a fi ght with Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails while we were in Mexico City. But sadly, I think I just slept on it in a bad position. Anyway, there were and occasionally still are strange pains that shoot through my arms and shoulders. ... My point is - that drugs get a bad rap in these times of health consciousness, but the painkiller is a glorious life-changing invention, and it belongs at the top of any list of things that make life wonderful.”

From Steven Drozd: “I am thankful for my wife, my son and our new little girl born earlier this year. I’m thankful for the possibility of a fresh start that the November election brought us. I’m thankful for the life the Flaming Lips has given me. Oh, and we have a beautiful new house that will be perfect to spend the winter in!”

From Scott Booker: “I am thankful for the amazing life I have with my wife, Jennifer, and son Harrison. I’m thankful that we can live and work in Oklahoma with great bands, institutions and wonderful friends. I’m always amazed, but never surprised, at how easily ideas are embraced and supported here. We are lucky to live in a great community that is small enough to care and focused enough to act.”
