In the first 62 Associated Press preseason Top 25 polls, Oklahoma State had never been ranked ahead of Oklahoma.

That changed Saturday with No. 63.

The Cowboys are the top-ranked Big 12 team in this year's preseason poll at No. 13. Oklahoma is No. 16.

Alabama is the atop the preseason poll, followed by Ohio State, Oregon, Stanford and Georgia.

Texas (No. 15) and TCU (No. 20) are the other two Big 12 teams in the poll.

For the first time in its history, the Big 12 doesn't have a team in the top 10 in the preseason poll. The last time the Big Eight didn't have a top-10 team was 1992.

The ranking is the third-highest in the preseason for the Cowboys, who were ranked No. 9 to start the 2009 and 2011 seasons.

Oklahoma State is ranked in the preseason for the seventh time.

SI.com's Andy Staples was the only one of the 60 voters who submitted ballots to leave Oklahoma State off the ballot entirely. Oklahoma appeared on every ballot.

The highest spot for the Cowboys by any voter was No. 8. Two voters put the Cowboys that high.

Oklahoma's highest placement is No. 11 and lowest is No. 23.

The Sooners are ranked in the preseason poll for the 55th time and the 14th consecutive season.
