STILLWATER — Oklahoma State has become the latest Big 12 school to officially announce a multiyear programming agreement between Fox Sports and Learfield Sports, the exclusive multimedia rights holder for OSU athletics.
The third-tier rights deal will expand OSU's regional coverage area to about 9 million homes across Oklahoma, Arkansas, Texas and Louisiana, and will televise several more events across multiple sports.
The agreement includes one football game, all available men's basketball games and up to 20 Olympic sports to be televised on Fox Sports platforms, including Fox Sports Oklahoma, Fox Sports Southwest, Fox Sports Southwest Plus and Fox College Sports. Non-game programming, such as magazine shows like Cowboy Football Roundup, Cowboy Basketball Roundup, Cowgirl Basketball Roundup and OSU Spring Sports Roundup, will also be included in the deal.
“We are excited to take this next step in our relationship with FOX Sports and Learfield Sports,” OSU Athletic Director Mike Holder said in a release. “The added exposure generated by this agreement will alert an even bigger audience to all of the good things that are happening at Oklahoma State.”
OSU's football season opener against Savannah State, which was televised by Fox College Sports, officially kicked off the partnership.
“This exclusive agreement helps reinforce FOX Sports Oklahoma as the pre-eminent sports television network in the state and allows us to showcase compelling Cowboys programming across the region on FOX Sports Southwest,” FOX Sports Southwest Senior Vice President/General Manager Jon Heidtk said in a release.
Texas Tech, TCU and Kansas State announced similar deals with Fox Sports earlier this year. Oklahoma also reached a larger deal with Fox Sports to air “Sooner Sports TV.” All four schools' multimedia rights are also managed by Learfield Sports.
The deal still allows OSU to retain web streaming rights on okstate.com for any event not selected to be televised on a Fox Sports platform.
