STILLWATER — Oklahoma State's ninth-inning rally fell short as the 16th-ranked Cowboys fell to West Virginia 5-4 in the regular-season finale on Saturday at Reynolds Stadium.
OSU finishes the regular season 39-14 overall and 13-10 in the Big 12 Conference.
After winning the first two games of the series against WVU (31-25, 13-11), the Cowboys fell short of their first Big 12 series sweep of the season.
Trailing 5-2 entering the bottom of the ninth, OSU tried to mount a comeback. Tanner Krietemeier hit a solo home run with two out in the inning. McCurry followed with a blast to left field to pull the Cowboys to within one.
But closer Pascal Paul came out of the bullpen and got Robbie Rea to ground out to seal the Mountaineers' win.
OSU starter Mark Robinette (5-1) allowed three runs on six hits in 5 1/3 innings. West Virginia's Ryan Tezak (4-0) picked up the win.
