PRAGUE, Czech Republic — Oklahoma State sophomore Marcus Smart and the U.S. men's U19 basketball team defeated Serbia 71-62 on Wednesday in the final game of pool play at the FIBA U19 World Championships. The Americans enter bracket play with a 6-0 mark.
Smart struggled for the U.S., picking up his first foul 20 seconds after entering the game and his second 30 seconds later. He fouled out late with two points on 1-of-3 shooting with a rebound.
After winning their first five games by an average of 50 points, the Americans had to hold off a rally late by the Serbians for the victory.
The United States is the only undefeated team through pool play. The Americans will face Canada, which finished 3-3 in Group E, on Friday.
