Oklahoma State basketball: What they're saying about the Cowboys' loss to Gonzaga

One and done for the Oklahoma State Cowboys.

In an 85-77 loss to Gonzaga in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, the talk in the second half reverted to the officiating.

According to the CBS crew calling the Oklahoma State-Gonzaga game, the 61 fouls called were the most in non-OT NCAA Tournament game since 1975. Six Cowboys players finished with four fouls or more, with Leyton Hammonds, Le’Bryan Nash and Kamari Murphy fouling out.

Many weren’t happy with the officiating, and the outrage wasn’t exclusive to fans:

Barkley sounds off on Cowboys At halftime of the Oklahoma State-Gonzaga game, TNT’s Charles Barkley said about Oklahoma State “They don’t play hard all the time. They play on talent.” The Cowboys trailed 43-32 at halftime.

Charles is typically putting his two cents in on “Inside the NBA,” so whether he watches a lot or college basketball or knows about the effort of the Cowboys is questionable.

CBS announcer sorry for “hack-a-Polack” comment

This wasn’t the smartest choice of words by CBS commentator Andrew Catalon. Catalon called the second-half foul strategy by the Cowboys “hack-a-Polack” in reference to Gonzaga’s 7-foot-1 center Przemek Karnowski, who is from Poland.

Catalon apologized on air and via Twitter.
