Oklahoma state Board of Education approves proposed budget increase

Oklahoma state Board of Education members approved a proposed $175 million budget increase.

State Board of Education members voted Tuesday to approve a $175 million budget increase proposed by the state Department of Education for the coming fiscal year. The request would include $81.4 million for individual school districts to help fund teacher pay raises.

The state legislature must approve the request.
