District gets new judge

Gov. Mary Fallin on Wednesday named McCurtain County Associate District Judge Michael DeBerry district judge for the 17th Judicial District, which covers McCurtain, Choctaw and Pushmataha counties. He replaces Willard Driesel, who died in December. DeBerry, of Idabel, previously served as assistant district attorney, Idabel municipal judge and as an attorney in private practice. DeBerry, 68, a lifelong resident of McCurtain County, was recognized in 2011 as an outstanding Oklahoma elected official for his work with child abuse prevention. DeBerry received a bachelor's degree in agricultural economics from Oklahoma State University and a law degree from the University of Oklahoma. He and his wife, Linda, have two children.

Precinct assignments changed for thousands of voters after the 2011 redistricting process. Voters with Internet access can use the Polling Place Locator on the Election Board's website — — to obtain their basic voter registration information by entering their last name, birth date and the ZIP code at the address where they are registered to vote. Voters without Internet access or who have questions should call their county election board directly.
