Justin Gilbert is rising up the NFL draft boards.

Mel Kiper Jr. of ESPN released his first of what should be 6,000 mock drafts between now and the newly-scheduled NFL Draft in May, and Oklahoma State cornerback Justin Gilbert clocks in at No. 10 overall to the Detroit Lions.

If Gilbert were to be selected at No. 10, he’d join OSU product Brandon Pettigrew and former OU linebacker Travis Lewis on the Lions.

Here’s what Kiper had to say about Gilbert (via ESPN Insider content):

Gilbert would help the cause coming off a season where you could argue that no cornerback in college football performed better. He has the size to compete with bigger wide receivers and the agility and speed to run with anybody. He also brings strong return skills.

Matt Miller, lead NFL Draft scout at Bleacher Report, also has Gilbert going to the Lions at 10 as of Wednesday.

Mike Gundy seems to like it.
