GUNDY HAPPY FOR COOLER TEMPERATURES
After weeks of blistering hot summer days, the Cowboys have received a bit of a weather reprieve during morning practices in recent days, with temperatures in the upper 60s to low 70s.
OSU coach Mike Gundy has welcomed the change, both for his team and his plants back home.
“It’s beautiful,” Gundy said following Tuesday’s practice. “It’s like living on the coast. It was really nice. We’ve got, I think, only one more day of 90-something (degrees), and then we’re going to get some decent weather here for the trees and grass.”
GRAD ASSISTANT LINDER WORKING WITH SPECIAL TEAMS
Gundy announced before fall camp that new graduate assistant Ty Linder would handle most of the duties normally delegated to a special teams coordinator.
That has indeed been the case throughout practice, but Gundy would not give Linder that specific title.
“Ty is doing a lot of our special teams,” Gundy said. “He’s not necessarily the special teams coordinator, but he’s working on several of our units.”
OSU lost its special teams coordinator when longtime assistant coach Joe DeForest left Stillwater to become the defensive coordinator at West Virginia.
