Oklahoma State football: Bill Young has 'laundry list' of improvements after first scrimmage

Young pointed to a “laundry list” of things he wants to see improved in the upcoming week of practice, including making the correct substitutions.

“One time we substituted, we had a change of possession and we ended up with 12 men on the field,” Young said. “You've got to get the right players on the field and get them lined up, so we had some issues there.”

The defense finished the scrimmage strong by forcing three late turnovers, but Young said he was not “real excited with what we got,” because the defense was playing for both sides. The Cowboys' goal is to force three turnovers a game, meaning Young wanted six in the scrimmage.

LUNT, YOUNGER PLAYERS LEARNING TOGETHER

OSU coach Mike Gundy has continued to use the “good, not great” motto to describe the Cowboys' first 10 practices.

And he admits a lot of that has to do with the fact that OSU has transitioned from a 28-year-old quarterback in Brandon Weeden to an 18-year-old at the position in Wes Lunt.

“He controlled everything,” Gundy said of Weeden. “He controlled practice, made sure guys were going. He controlled the locker room. Everywhere.
