Oklahoma State defensive tackle Christian Littlehead, who on Wednesday was charged with one count of misdemeanor assault and battery in Cherokee County, returned to the team for Saturday's scrimmage.

Coach Mike Gundy said he will determine Littlehead's status with the program once he gathers all the information about the situation, which he estimated could take two or three weeks.

“I've always followed the policy that guys are relatively innocent until proven guilty,” Gundy said. “And that's the only way that we can do things. Oklahoma State people have to trust that once I get the information, I'm going to do what's best for this school.”

Littlehead, who is listed as a backup on the preseason depth chart, did not practice Friday morning, the same day a warrant for his arrest was recalled. Littlehead is accused of punching a woman in the face at a party in March, according to court documents. He is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 24.

Wednesday's charge was Littlehead's third run-in with the law in the past eight months.

He was charged in December with one count of misdemeanor drug paraphernalia possession after OSU police found two homemade smoking devices with residue at his on-campus residence. He pleaded guilty in February, and his final sentence was deferred until Aug. 27. He was also suspended for the Fiesta Bowl by OSU coach Mike Gundy.

In May, Littlehead was arrested in Tahlequah on a complaint of public intoxication.
