STILLWATER — Lee Corso and Marcus Smart predicted OSU victory during ESPN's College GameDay show Saturday morning. So some people saw it coming.
But not this way. Not with a defensive performance for the ages.
A day that began with Corso donning Pistol Pete's head, and shooting off his firearms, ended with even more revelry.
The 10th-ranked Cowboys stunned fourth-ranked Baylor 49-17 Saturday night at Boone Pickens Stadium to put OSU in the driver's seat for the Big 12 football championship.
And now the Cowboys host OU on Dec. 7 with a chance to secure the Fiesta Bowl berth that goes to the Big 12 champion.
“When I was going to school here, beating OU would have made our year,” said Tyler Evans of Tulsa, OSU class of 2006. “I couldn't be happier with the way things are going and this win."
An OSU record crowd of 60,218 – the first sellout in the new Boone Pickens Stadium – roared throughout the bitterly cold night as the Cowboys' domination grew and grew.
