Oklahoma State’s Boone Pickens Stadium will be resurfaced with AstroTurf, as announced by the company Wednesday. Installation of the new 76,000 square foot AstroTurf field is scheduled to begin May 12.
The revamp of Boone Pickens Stadium comes a year after OSU had two AstroTurf 3D Xtreme practice fields installed at the Sherman E. Smith Training Center.
“Our players, coaches and staff have been extremely satisfied with our AstroTurf fields at the Sherman Smith Center,” said OSU athletic director Mike Holder via press release. “When it came time to replace the turf at Boone Pickens Stadium, we decided to stick with AstroTurf.”
The new surface will be AstroTurf’s 3D Decade product — aptly named because it comes with a 10-year warranty. AstroTurf touts its 3D Decade surface as “the most durable surface in the industry.”
