STILLWATER — Quarterbacks will again provide the dominant storyline for Oklahoma State spring football, with Clint Chelf, J.W. Walsh and Wes Lunt all taking turns on the injury-driven quarterback carousel and throwing for more than 1,000 yards in 2012.

In Sunday's Oklahoman, we broke down that intriguing position battle as the Cowboys prep for workouts.

But here are five — actually, six — more players who will be interesting to keep track of during the spring.

Justin Gilbert, senior, cornerback

No need to rehash Gilbert's disappointing 2012 season. But it's the reason he's back in Stillwater for his senior campaign rather than training for the NFL Draft. That alone should serve as motivation. The spring should allow Gilbert time to refocus on technique and the other details of playing the position. And with Glenn Spencer now coordinating the defense, maybe those 10-yard cushions for the receivers to catch the ball will be gone for good.

Bobby Stonebreaker, junior, kicker and Michael Reichenstein, senior, punter

Bet on incoming freshman Ben Grogan to occupy one — or both — of these roles come September. But someone has to kick and punt during the spring. And a strong performance would make Mike Gundy think twice about immediately handing over the job to a true freshman.
