Oklahoma State football: Cowboys offense, kickers get average marks in spring scrimmage

Quarterbacks: C. Clint Chelf started the game with completions of eight yards to Josh Stewart, 34 yards to Austin Hays off a flea flicker and 28 yards to Tracy Moore. But after that, the trio of Chelf, J.W. Walsh and Wes Lunt was pedestrian. None was impressive.

Short-yardage offense: D. The Cowboy offense was 2-of-5 on third-and-short (three yards or less) and 2-of-5 on fourth-and-short. On passes during those situations, OSU was 2-of-6, with one interception.

Receivers: C. Blake Jackson made a couple of nice catches, including a nifty one-hander off a Wes Lunt bullet. But Mike Gundy estimated five drops by his receiving corps, and sure-handed Josh Stewart and Tracy Moore were among the perpetrators.

Pass rush: A. Jimmy Bean, the forgotten man among the Denton Guyer trio that includes Walsh and Stewart, had two sacks. Fellow defensive ends Naim Mustafaa, Taylor May, Eric Davis and Sam Wren also had sacks, as did linebacker Seth Jacobs and tackle Calvin Barnett. The OSU front four also tipped several passes. A quality performance.
