— Oklahoma State's crushing Bedlam loss Saturday afternoon cost the Cowboys a Big 12 title and trip to the Fiesta Bowl for the second time in three seasons.

But the consolation prize is a pretty good one — a Cotton Bowl date with No. 8 Missouri on Jan. 3 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.

Missouri, one of college football's biggest surprise teams this season, is 11-2 and coming off a 59-42 loss to Auburn in an SEC championship game shootout. The Tigers beat Georgia, Florida, Mississippi and Texas A&M, among others, en route to the SEC East title this season. They lost 27-24 to South Carolina in double overtime in late October.

The Tigers, of course, are also a familiar foe, leaving the Big 12 for the SEC following the 2011 season. Many players remain from the last time OSU played Missouri, including quarterback James Franklin and running back Henry Josey.

This marks OSU's fourth trip to the Cotton Bowl. The Cowboys lost 21-7 to Mississippi in 2010, lost to Mississippi 31-28 in 2004 and beat TCU 34-0 in 1945.

It's also the second consecutive season that OSU will play its bowl game in the DFW metroplex. The Cowboys beat Purdue 58-14 in the Heart of Dallas Bowl last season.
