On Tuesday, former Oklahoma State all-american and NFL Hall of Fame running back Thurman Thomas was announced as an inductee into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame for 2014.
Other former athletes joining Thomas as Hall inductees are: University of Texas/Detroit Lions defensive tackle Doug English, UNLV and NBA All-Star Larry Johnson, Texas A&M offensive tackler Charlie Kruger, Texas A&M/Dallas Cowboys linebacker Dat Nguyen, Texas Rangers catcher Ivan Rodriguez, NCAA and Olympic 400-meter champion Sanya Richards-Ross and Baylor/Houston Oilers quarterback Don Trull.
Thomas, a Missouri City, Texas, native, starred for OSU from 1984-87. He ran for 4,595 yards and 44 touchdowns in Stillwater, led the Cowboys in rushing each season, and guided OSU to three bowls in that stretch. Thomas was inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame in 2007, after playing in four Super Bowls with the Buffalo Bills in 12 seasons.
Thomas will be inducted on Feb. 27 in Waco, Texas.
