Oklahoma State fans excited about the idea of seeing Wes Lunt and J.W. Walsh both in the backfield for multiple snaps Saturday will have to reel in their joy.
The three-back set of Lunt, Walsh and fullback Kye Staley that the Cowboys trotted out during OSU's spring game on Saturday was something new to coach Mike Gundy.
“That was actually the first time I had seen that myself,” Gundy said. “Those guys, they come up with some stuff for the spring game.
SPEEDING IT UP
Gundy said Saturday's play was a bad example of how fast the Cowboys' offense is expected to operate. The slower tempo was a result of the first-string players being split onto different teams.
“We had just enough offensive linemen for two teams, so you don't have a lot of depth there,” Gundy said. “Our pace is gonna be quick. Our tempo's gonna be fast, if not faster than it ever has been. There's a few limitations when you split teams on offense, as far as your tempo.”
MOORE ENJOYS OPPORTUNITY
Tracy Moore was granted an extra year of eligibility after missing virtually all of the 2012 season with an injury, and he relished the chance to play in one more spring game Saturday.
Moore led all receivers with seven catches for 79 yards.
