Oklahoma State's 2011 season was filled with plenty of historic moments. One came from the Cowboy seniors, who compiled a program-best 41 victories over their four year stretch.
But if OSU wins its remaining three regular-season games and its bowl game, the Cowboys' current group of seniors would finish with 42 career victories.
“That would be pretty cool, just to say we're the winningest class as seniors,” said offensive lineman Lane Taylor, the most experienced player of the group. “That would be great if we can accomplish that.”
COOPER BASSETT EXPECTS TEXAS TECH TO ‘TRY TO EMBARRASS US'
Oklahoma State thrashed Texas Tech 66-6 in Lubbock a season ago, a score Cowboy defensive end Cooper Bassett expects has stuck in the minds of the Red Raiders.
“I'm sure they've had that game circled, because they were embarrassed,” Bassett said. “So they're going to come in here and try to embarrass us like we did last year. We know we're going to get their best game. So we've got to prepare to give them our best game, because they're going to come in and try to rectify their loss from last year.
“It's kind of the opposite of overlooking them. We've got to gear up even more because they're looking to try to embarrass us.”
The Cowboys' defense pitched a shutout in last season's rout, as Tech's only score came on a fumble recovery returned for a touchdown.
“Coach (Bill) Young got us on high alert that week, just because that offense was so potent,” Bassett said. “It scared us, and it scares us now, just because they are so good. It makes you have to prepare so hard, because they can hit the big play at any moment.
