Something Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy should have been thankful for this holiday weekend? That postgraduate transfer cornerback Tyler Patmon essentially fell into the Cowboys' lap.

Without dynamic playmaker Justin Gilbert at full strength because of a shoulder injury last week against Baylor, Patmon again became an important contributor in the secondary against the Bears' potent passing game.

Patmon recorded six tackles in his fourth consecutive start and made one of the game's biggest plays, a 78-yard scoop and score on a bad snap when the Bears were attempting a mini comeback.

“It has been really good for us and I think it has been good for him,” Gundy said. “I am happy for him. He is on a team that is bowl eligible. It was really a big deal for him when he won six games to become bowl eligible.

“It opened a lot of the eyes for the players on our team to understand we just take that for granted around here now.”

SEALES FILLS IN ON KICK RETURNS

Injuries to Gilbert and Desmond Roland (shoulder) also shook up the Cowboys' kick return game against Baylor, with redshirt freshman receiver Jhajuan Seales seeing his first real action in that role.

Seales tallied three returns for 48 yards, with a long of 23.
