Here is a look at the 2012 season of the Purdue football team:

SEPT. 1 — WON 48-6 VS. EASTERN KENTUCKY

The Boilermakers amassed 547 yards of total offense in the easy victory.

Record: 1-0

SEPT. 8 — LOST 20-17 AT NOTRE DAME

Notre Dame would have never been in the national title game — or discussion — had Purdue been able to knock off the Irish in this nail-biter. Quarterback Tommy Rees came off the bench to lead Notre Dame on a last-minute drive that was capped by the game-winning field goal.

Record: 1-1

SEPT. 15 — WON 54-16 VS. EASTERN MICHIGAN

Tailback Akeem Hunt was efficient and effective, tallying 106 rushing yards and a touchdown on just four carries, while adding a 50-yard touchdown catch.

Record: 2-1

SEPT. 29 — WON 51-41 VS. MARSHALL

The Boilermaker defense even had a hand in this shootout, returning two interceptions by Marshall's Rakeem Cato for touchdowns.

Record: 3-1

OCT. 6 — LOST 44-13 VS. MICHIGAN

Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson ran all over the Purdue defense, racking up 235 yards to become Big Ten's career rushing leader among quarterbacks.

Record: 3-2

OCT. 13 — LOST 38-14 VS. WISCONSIN
