Three-star receiver Brandon Sheperd, of Chesterfield, Mo., committed to Oklahoma State the week after watching the Cowboys whip Bedlam rival Oklahoma 44-10.

Sheperd (6-foot-3, 190 pounds) had long been deciding between the Cowboys and Missouri. He had 818 receiving yards and 21 touchdowns as a senior, earning him All-State honors.

Sheperd told Rivals.com in early August that he hoped to decide between the Cowboys and Tigers quickly, but took his time and visits to other schools before choosing OSU.

Oklahoma State needed to replace lots of receiving production in the recruiting class of 2012, and appears to have done it with five current receiver commits.

Sheperd has a chance to make an immediate impact for the Cowboys as a freshman because of his size, speed and hands.

Mark Goldenberg, Sheperd's high school coach, told Scout.com, “I think as soon as he steps foot on campus at Oklahoma State he will be able to make an impact.”

Sheperd chose to commit to OSU largely because of its success in developing receivers.
