Jesse Vester has always dreamed of playing football for Oklahoma State.

The Cowboys did their part — they offered him last week.

Now, Vester will have to do his.

The Stillwater wide receiver and kick returner double signed on Wednesday with both OSU and Northeastern Oklahoma A&M.

If Vester can become academically qualified, he’ll start his career with the Cowboys next fall.

“As long as I take care of my business, I’ll qualify,” Vester said.

“I’m doing everything I can — taking extra classes, studying, everything.”

Vester became the Cowboys’ fourth in-state signee, along with Broken Arrow’s Zac Veatch, Wagoner’s Kevin Peterson and Madill’s Caleb Muncrief.

Vester’s signing is good news for the Cowboys, who lost receiver Chance Allen to Oregon in a signing-day switch and lost out to Washington for Los Angeles wideout Jaydon Mickens on Tuesday night.

Vester (5-foot-10, 180 pounds) was a big part of the Pioneers turnaround this season. Stillwater was 8-3 this season, a year after going 1-9.

Vester, the kick returner on The Oklahoman’s All-State team, scored 15 touchdowns and had 1,125 receiving yards as a senior.

He said he’s been talking to OSU since his junior year, but that he was surprised when they called him with an offer.

“I had heard some stuff that they maybe wanted me to double sign, but I had heard it from outside sources,” Vester said. “When they called, it was kinda shocking to me.”

Vester said Cowboys coaches have said he could play anywhere on the field — offense, defense or special teams.
